One of my father's favorite saying was, “No matter how smart you are, you can always be a fool.” Nothing has ever proven it more than the current gang running our country. It is easy for anyone grounded in reality to see how stupid what they are doing is, but they are grounded in theory that they have proven to their own satisfaction and that of their peers. From the top down these people are as confident in the future they have planned as the head of the patent office who in the late 1800's wanted to close it because everything important had been invented. Fools all.
Mr. Victor Volsky wrote in his “The Audacity of Conceit” that “It is a common mistake of intellectuals to confuse IQ with common sense and verbal fluency with leadership qualities. They are simply unable to comprehend that academic success does not necessarily translate into a firm grasp on reality; the knack for endlessly bloviating on an abstruse subject does not automatically imply administrative ability; an academic degree is not a substitute for practical experience; and a professors' lounge is not a corporate boardroom.”
“Nobody would deny that the members of Mr. Obama's circle of economic advisors are indeed academically adept, well-spoken men and women. But have any of them ever run a lemonade stand, much less a bona fide business? Have they ever met a payroll? Do they know what it means to toss and turn in bed, worrying over the coming rise in vendor prices? They may have academic theories and marshal vast amounts of data, but have little practical knowledge of how things work in the real world.”
With Mr. Obama’s ascension to the highest office in the land, the rule of law is simply being ignored, by-passed, skipped. America is quickly turning into two separate and unequal factions - the elites who decide the rules and the peons who are obliged to follow them. As someone once said, “some complain about taxes while others, simply, spend the taxes.” By now, we should all know into which group we fall. Interestingly, we that pay the taxes are the peons and the elites are the spenders. What is happening?
Our political elites are currently crafting a drastic overhaul of a health care system 77% of Americans say they are happy with. They have decreed that all Americans will now be subject to the new health care rules. Those that don’t will be subject to $1,000 fines. Congress itself, however, will be exempt from the rules they are demanding the rest of us follow. Congressional members have their own health care plan, one that is not available to the rest of us. Are we simply peons in this Shakesperian drama? What is happening?
Oh, and the unions, who have attained temporary elite status by virtue of their campaign contributions, will be granted special rules allowing them to be exempt from the proposed taxes on health care that will be paid by the those of us left in flyover country. (That’s you, me and all my Iowa friends – even the ones that voted for this President!) Does this remind you of Animal Farm? It does me. What is happening?
Our politicians and the politically connected environmental elite are demanding all Americans drive smaller cars, use different light bulbs and basically alter their way of life to conform to the elite’s stated, but misleading, attempt to ’save the earth.’ At the same time, these elites fly around in the same private jets they demonize CEO’s for using. To say nothing of the fleets of SUVs currently in use by the very people who would deny them to the rest of us. How many Czars does Mr. Obama have? What is the size of their staffs? Who are these unelected officials of our current President? Why do they exist? Where are the checks and balances that our government was founded on? What is happening?
Mr. Obama is lecturing Americans to tighten their economic belts while he continues spending our tax dollars at an unsustainable rate -- quadrupling the deficit, with no end in sight. Obviously the rules imposed on us, the peons, don’t apply to the elites. What is happening?
The Federal Trade Commission has announced it is going to begin going after bloggers who make false claims about products and/or don’t fully disclose conflicts of interest. This crackdown does not extend to the elites, who continue to make false claims, like Obama’s patently false statement, “I’ll be honest, there are countries where a single-payer system works pretty well”. Apparently the media elite won’t be subject to this crackdown either, unless, of course, they dare to challenge a liberal premise (Sarah Palin comes to mind). What is happening?
The elites in Congress will also be exempt from these new FTC dictates, as they continue to shut down inquiries into false claims Nancy Pelosi made about the CIA. Who continue to shut down amendments to audit the Federal Reserve Board. A host of democrat politicians and liberal advocacy groups also get a free pass to make false and misleading claims about health care, cap and trade, global warming, etc. Once again, the elites exempt themselves from the rules they impose on the rest of us. What is happening?
The Obama administration is now actively involved in doubling the number of IRS agents to better enforce tax regulation and enforcement on the peons who live in flyover country and the capitalists who dare to make a, gasp, profit. The elites entrusted to run the IRS, however, are exempt from these rules, garnering nothing more than phony expressions of ‘deep concern’ when they’re caught failing to pay their own taxes. Ditto for the numerous Democrat appointees who have failed to abide by the IRS rules the rest of us are forced to live by. What is happening?
Mr. Obama, as a Senator, actually sponsored legislation requiring 30 days notice and a valid reason given before Inspector Generals could be fired. The very rule he sponsored, however, doesn’t apply to him, as he gave IG Gerald Walpin one hour notice to quit or be fired when he started investigating a friend of Mr. Obama’s. What is happening?
Mr. Obama lectures the world that “suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away” while, on the same day, demonizing Fox News for daring to question what he says. What is happening?
Mr. Obama has ruled that America has no right to meddle in Iran’s affairs. Apparently this rule doesn’t apply to Israel, where Obama is actively meddling in Israel’s affairs in order to get them to halt settlements. Or to the coup in the Honduras that Obama was quick to label ‘not-legal.’ What is happening?
We are now a nation with two sets of rules. One set for the elites, which are flexible and arbitrary, and another set of rules for the rest of us. What is happening?
The rule of law is now open to interpretation and discretionary enforcement, based on the transient whims of the reigning elite.
Translation: There is no more rule of law. We should all be very afraid.
Here are my rules:
- I will consider a universal health care system when congress accepts the same
- I will believe Social Security is not simply a giant Ponsi Scheme when congress enrolls in Social Security
- I will consider Cap n Trade when Global Warming is proven to be fact
- I will accept Mr. Obama as President of the USA when he becomes the President of the USA and not simply an elitist representative of the radical left
- I will honor my congressional representatives when they honor their oath of office
- I will believe we are going in the right direction when we repeal all this stimulous BS and simply get on getting on.
I may not be able to fix stupid, but I don’t have to reelect it!
